Automatic Current Control (ACC)

Last updated on 01/27/2023

Automatic current control (ACC) mode is a feature that can be used in a fiber amplifier to automatically adjust the current injected to the pump laser. The ACC mode uses a feedback loop to monitor the pump current and keep it constant.

ACC mode is relatively easy to implement compared to ALC mode or AGC mode, and virtually all fiber amplifiers have this mode. It is also a relatively safe operating mode for protecting the pump laser, as the feedback loop does not change the pump current and thus the pump laser will not be overdriven.

ACC mode is stable when variations in temperature or other environmental factors are small. Under a temperature-controlled environment, ACC mode typically provides very stable operation.
