Why fluoride fiber is more expensive when buying in one long-length piece?

Making a defect-free fluoride fiber is very difficult, even with the current state-of-the-art production technology. After drawing a fluoride fiber, we visually inspect the fiber and remove defects. As a result of the defect removal, the drawn fiber is cut into multiple pieces, and that is the reason that a number of long-length, defect-free fibers is limited.

So if you accpept fluoride fibers provided in multiple pieces, we can offer a better price than that provided in one long-length piece, even though the total length is the same. That would be the choice if you only need a short piece of fiber one time.
